If his level turns out to be Champs and he doesnt demonstrate the ability to adapt to the PL, is he the 'one' long term?

(Playing devils advocate a bit here tbf, and just mulling over whether it would be awful if Dortmund or someone took him. I am not suggesting in a million years we'd actively want to get rid.)
