Depends what our expectations are for signings

Are we likely to be able to find anyone we can afford that is going to come in to the team, be an incredible improvement on what we have and not saddle us with huge wages if we go down? Seems like a tall order.

I'd be happy with us keeping our powder dry and hope we're identifying replacements for whoever we are likely to sell - depending on where we end up. If that's championship, better to have the budget to build a new team in the summer rather than be lumbered with the January signings who don't want to play in the Championship.
