Sadly the divide is going to be very difficult to close

The angriness that fuelled the Leave vote won't go away, even if/when we do. A significant proportion of these people (I overheard one at the polling station earlier) genuinely think leaving the EU will at a stroke recreate the Britain of the 50s, with red telephone boxes, bobbies with tall hats, full employment and no nasty foreign people. Those people are still going to be very, very angry when they realise that isn't going to happen and I worry about where that anger will be directed at next.
