We can't compare that to our current squad.

Russell Martin as a ball playing center half? Wildschut and Husband as wingbacks?
Of that team, only Maddison and Zimm get into the current starting 11 and we do have some upgrades in key positions, e.g. Lewis and Aarons are natural wingbacks, Amadou and/or Tettey are natural deep players to protect the back line.
That said:
- midfield is more challenging. None of Hernandez, Buendia, or Cantwell fit that system.
- we don't have enough fit defenders, or arguably good enough defenders to play a back 3
- we lack a second striker to partner Pukki

Maybe a 3-4-2-1 works better

We have plenty of midfield options with Tettey, Trybull, McLean, Lietner, Hernandez but lack defensive and forward depth -- but that's true of whatever formation we play!
