I don't understand how you can have weighed up the pros and cons of being an MP, considered the impact on your life, discussed it all with family, without at some point asking yourself: 'how am I going to nip the controversy in the bud?'

So he's either stupid or doesn't understand the gravity of it.

It's a daunting enough prospect being an MP even if you've got a squeaky clean history.
