That is a slightly defeatist attitude then if we are holding money back any sort of

significant sum to cover future wages in the championship should we go down.

Just don't give players stupidly long contracts that extend beyond the parachute payments (3 years), have the sort of sensible wage reductions on relegation. I'm sure we do that.

I'd rather have a little bit of a go and accept we may have to sell someone if we get relegated. Its not like we haven't got saleable assets, we haven't got any Naismith's in this squad and nobody is suggesting we buy one. That said signing up Hanley until 2023 seems a bit of a strange one.

I bet if we go down we will still be told we have to sell someone to balance the books even though we will have held back money this season to cover the wages. The truth is that regardless of our financial position the younger guys will probably want to move on anyway.
