Brighton, burnley, and Bournemouth all bridged it without huge spending initially.
I don’t believe it’s much bigger, teams have more financial muscle but the smaller clubs still don’t have the ability to attract top quality players. If a team is well drilled, has good togetherness, and invests in the right areas you can compete (not too dissimilar from the lambert era) It was only 3 years ago Leicester won the league. If the gap was so massive teams wouldn’t be staying up.
