Either Man U are not as bad as everyone makes out or we're worse. Suspect it lies somewhere in the middle. But what is obvious is that the win over Man City was taken on board by opposition managers who ensure they press us high up the pitch, safe in the knowledge that we haven't the ability at this level to catch them out if the pressing fails. Farke is a brilliant manager but at present I'm not sure if he has an answer nor the personnel to change our tactics although to be fair he did try yesterday by making the substitutions early. These are my main points for what they're worth:-
1. The biggest disappointment for me this season is Leitner. I've been his biggest fan, technically gifted and capable of controlling a game but he has looked dire against Villa and yesterday. What troubles me most is the much of his problem looks like lack of work rate. Really fancied him to be a star in the PL but beginning to see now why he failed in the Bundesliga.
2. Emi is struggling but he needs to work harder and not have a mini tantrum after everytime he loses the ball, particularly when the opposition then break into our penalty area.
3. I thought the PL was all about fair play and respect? Why were the United players not stopped from inciting our fans when they celebrated? I thought it showed their typical arrogance (the reason why everyone tends to dislike them as a club) and lack of respect for the occasion. McTominay in particularly. What was he all about and why didn't the ref stop it? Oh for Grant Holt on the pitch to put the little pillock in his place.
4. I must congratluate Ashley Young on his refereeing of the game................... Old habits die hard at Utd but thought the ref was controlled by Young and co. most of the game. Again don't understand how they get away with it.
5. VAR. Enough said but it is utter s**te.
6. I'm getting fed up of the ritualised complaining about the home support by the same people after every game. It was a 4:30pm game on a Sunday. Sunday games at this time on Sky always appear to have a quieter atmosphere and who can blame it? Most people just had Sunday dinner not two hours in the pub. We're not going to get the atmosphere like Man City every game it just isn't possible particularly when we're conceding so many goals and quite frankly getting over run. I thought the crowd did their best and quite a few people stayed behind at the end to applaud the players.
Only good point of the day? Apart from Krul obviously, its that my utter contempt for Man U and their legion of plastic supporters with their cameras on flash has once again been enhanced. Not because they beat us (they were so much the better team) but because they highlight why I really don't like modern football (particularly in the PL) but why I do love my home club.
