Yeah, we seemed to win most games by the odd goal

And a performance that only beats a Champs team by one goal almost certainly won't be enough to beat a Prem one.

Our chances this season really hinged on us improving by:
1) having played together a bit longer and thus forming a better understanding
2) the young players continuing to improve.

The problem is so far we are playing at about the same standard as last season, just against much stronger opposition. The injuries to so many key players (not just the defenders but Vrancic and Hernandez, who contributed to so many goals last season) have hardly helped. When you have a very small margin for error to start with such problems are astonishingly hard to overcome.
