I think they gambled on too many making the step up

And probably underestimated the athleticism and pace there is in the premier league.

By the law of averages even our best young players were bound to have spells where they struggled a bit.

It’s ultimately not them though is it although I think Farke should have got to grips more with the defending. Even if we had spent a bit more (which is probably all we could have done) it would still have been a pittance by top division standards.
