i'd say train but beware weekends as lots of rail engineering goes on

so trains are replaced with a bus service. I'd rent a car from a central base and mix it up with the odd train journey. Norfolk Suffolk coast is lovely and the roads are relatively gentile so I'd definitley drive that. If you do Ireland then drive is easy over there about 200 times less congested than the UK and the pace on the roads is a lot more laid back. If you get time look up the Wild Atlantic Way.
