It can be awfully deceptive

November 2004. Away to Charlton. We lost 4-0 - it was the day many of us realised we were out of our depth - yet the hosts didn't look any good at all really! Just solid, no more than that. But over a whole season, they were miles and miles ahead of us, because they had years of revenue and experience on us.

Like Palace did when walloping us at Carrow Road on the first day of 2015/16. They were so far ahead that day, it was a huge shock.

Bridging the chasm separating 'yo-yo club' from 'established Premier League club' is hard enough without the massive financial disadvantage we face. We're doing incredibly well just to be in with a shout.
