Taxing the top 5% may sound a good gimmick but many at the bottom end of that bracket £70k plus are already paying a lot of tax and combined with their proposals for CGT and in particular their replacement for inheritance tax (both not just for the top 5% with the latter being any inheritance over £125k taxed at income tax rates) add up to quite a whammy.

That’s before you get to other blatantly counter productive policies like seizing people’s land or assets.

As I’ve said before I probably won’t vote Tory in the next election but if labour get in I think large numbers of skilled professional people will be leaving the country.
