A quick update on the DS and Academy.

For all the restocking of the talent pool this summer neither the U23 or U18 sides are pulling up trees. So far this season, across both groups, the playing record is: P13 W1 D4 L8.

A young U21 side put up a spirited performance at Oxford in the EFL Trophy (losing 1-2), but were then given a footballing lesson by Portsmouth (1-3). Two defeats is likely to see them exit the competition.

Connor Parsons & Shae Hutchinson have made welcome returns from long-term injury, while Atli Barkarson & Denzelle Olopade have left the club.

Those players out on loan are enduring mixed fortunes, with Ciaren Jones returning early from Eastbourne and some youngsters struggling for game-time. However Gilmour, Barden & Oxborough are playing regularly.

One other bright spot appears to be greater involvement of City players with international squads. The most recent int’l schedule saw fourteen City players called up for Age-Group sides, including three for Eire U18 (Giurgi, Omobamidele & Springett) and Barden & Vaughan for Wales U19.
