Just re watched the whole game. What is most pleasing is

How much that game showed we have learnt and how much more savvy we were.

Of course you need a bit of luck to beat that lot. They are going to create chances and their shooting and final ball was poor. But that was the sort of disciplined, defensive shape keeping performance that I wasn’t sure we were capable of. I think Farke double bluffed Guardiola who thought we were going to come out and be our usual gung ho selves but we weren’t. We got the balance spot on and with our front four we know that if we can be solid at the back then they will create chances.

Ironic really that Farke’s hand may have been slightly forced by injuries but through that he may have found a formula that will serve us much better against the stronger sides in this league. I’m happy for us to go all out against the bottom sides but we’ve been too open against the “top six” sides before today.
