I suspect if we’d held it at 5-1 or increased the lead we would have seen Maddison for 20 mins. Also possible that he would have experimented with another formation with Maddison in.

When it went to 5-3 and they were still getting chances (in a competitive game where 3 points were important) then it makes no sense to start f**king around with debuts and formations and stuff.

Gareth put him in the squad. You don’t do that if you have no intention of ever using them. Don’t think I’d have done any different at 5-3.
