It all tends to highlight Southgate's narrow mindedness

& insecurity - it's hard to imagine a truly self confident coach failing to play him for at least some time, and then (if necessary) dealing with any attitude problems. It's really poisoned my view of Southgate; it's inexplicable on any proper grounds.
