But that's not what will win then the Ashes.

Smith has been the difference between the sides, and whilst he is undoubtedly a brilliant player our tactics in terms of trying to take his wicket leaves a lot to be desired. I'm happy to put that down to inexperience to an extent, but Root needs to learn a lot from this series to prove himself a good Test captain.
