This is Southgate following Pep and Jürgen. Maddison doesn't really fit into the three. Hopefully, a change of formation and Maddison (maybe Mount is ahead of him too) is plan B.

I don't think Southgate understands how Maddison plays because he has never been a no. 10. Give him the freedom of midfield like with us and Leicester then you will see his best.
