You've read a load of piffle I'm afraid

We have committed to fund projects (here and elsewhere) that the EU has committed to fund. The EU cant really back out, so we cant back out.

We have committed to it as a pre-condition to the WA.

We have also committed to it as part of no deal contingency planning with the EU.

If we renege, the EU pulls its funding for UK projects. If that happens Treasury has said it will pay for them anyway.

So we either pay our dues to the EU (particularly if we ever want that trade deal) or we pay a big chunk of it directly from our own coffers anyway.

This is stuff we have to pay for whether we do the WA or not.
