Just clean better

Get one of those brush duster things on a stick to do your alcoves/light fittings, daily hoover of skirting boards/under sofas etc, and you will render most of them homeless.

Too much hassle for me, so we just embrace them and adopt whichever one eats the others as our annual pet arachnid. Theres usually one big bugger that claims the bathroom light, as we leave it on at night for the kids so a healthy level of insects are drawn to it.
