Cala Bona is perfectly ok. Depends what you are looking for as it is on the quieter end of the Majorca spectrum but it has plenty of bars and eating places (British and German mainly) and if you like walking you can stroll the Promenade to Cala Millor (basically the same place) and further down to Sa Coma. Personally I think the best resort on Majorca is Cala D'Or about 25 miles south but Cala Bona is perfectly acceptable. Sure you can Google or Bing some videos if you want more evidence. Temperature in September shd be mid to high 20's - very good time to go.
