I think that’s the case for lots of defences. A good pass or run will do that.

As for “unchallenged”, I’d dispute that. Teams don’t do tackles any more - watch any team in the league. You commit to a challenge, most of the time you will be running the risk of significant loss of position. It’s all about the block, team positional awareness and structure. Running around making tackles is old-fashioned football and a waste of energy.

Yesterday the passing, for whatever reason, didn’t click. The one touch ball manipulation we’re normally so good at wasn’t working and I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen Emi pass the ball out of play.
