And the pass or shot wasn't on, rather than waste the ball, they played it back and controlled possession until they could build another move and find a better opportunity.

Good example of this was when ball was hit long for pukki to chase, he duped the defender but realised he couldn't shoot without it being blocked so played it backwards to retain possession.
