Sky Footy sunday chat thing

sunday supplement?

One of the guys on there basically said it how it is:

Everyone asked for VAR by saying decisions weren't good enough. 'Help the referees' 'Offside is offside' etc

This is the result.

I don't think we should be making decisions on offside based on frame by frame unless that is proved to be sufficiently speedy and accurate. I am sure they have proved it isn't accurate enough to be decisive. You'd need a super slomo with hundreds of frames a second to be really fair when judging someone offside by a toe or a shoulder but they are going with what they have.

We haven't been on the bad end of a VAR yet, so can't say how I will really feel about it until that happens but I mostly enjoyed it during the world cup last year, didn't like it during much of the champions league last season (mainly due to handball ruling) but it seems to be mostly spot on this season in the premier league.

As has been said a lot the last couple of days; VAR has applied the laws as best it can in most cases but in some cases the law is questionable. I can see why that handball rule is the way it is but I thought that was a goal all day long by jesus...
