well that's the thing about democracy...

"government by the people" is dependent on "the people" taking that responsibility seriously. When they were first granted it they did but these days they take it for granted and don't so much. Ill-informed electorates = s**t governments.
Still, as Churchill said, "democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried"
