Have to say that is pretty much spot on.

It's the ' I know better/what's best for you' sneery attitude that caused it especially the trump vote in the US. Most of the printed stuff is right/left bias so you can't take a lot of notice of that and most MP's will change their beliefs at the drop of a hat or popularity drop ala Boris or Jeremy.
