I find the model interesting - buy up all the best local talent and bring them on board with a juicy pay packet and equity.

But what happens when the replacement local journos turn out to be equally good (or better) and are still free?

It's going to be a tough model to sustain. You've always got to be one step ahead and that takes £££.
