I think Webber has done an incredible job regardless and because of that, doesn't really need to say things about the state of the club before he arrived if they're not really true.

I never felt that we were massively wasteful in our spending. Naismith was exactly the kind of player we were crying out for at the time.

It would be churlish of me, as someone who is generally supportive of the club, to then entirely swallow a revisionist view of how much of a basket case we supposedly were.
