I’ve been off out at my first Edinburgh Fringe show of the season (SO lovely to be back here and decompressing from a busy year!) but I spotted your reply to my comment below.
I don’t think I was trying to be passive aggressive in general or create some sort of ‘us vs them’ vibe but it was definitely in response to a comment from MWH last night (‘Jim is a bit negative but rather that than a board of happy clappers...’) Perhaps you missed it? To be fair to MWH, it was in response to Norway and he automatically takes the opposite view, so perhaps he wasn’t trying to be passive aggressive either, just anti norway.
It did rankle though! Why on earth shouldn’t posters be positive! Why do they need to be called Happy Clappers for being so? - Especially now, especially after such a magnificent season, especially as we haven’t kicked a ball in anger this season! Also, this wasn’t about Jim. It’s very clear what he feels and I think most would agree he has a point. (He was also pretty balanced with some positive comments too). But I do think if I’m going to be told off for being passive aggressive, Jim should be cautioned too when he talks about loads of fans not being bothered if we get regulated, for balance if nothing else (as this sort of comment implies that their views are not relevant).
I went to bed last night a bit gloomy after the second half and reading the Wroth. What I enjoyed about CC’s post today was the approach he took about not counting the second half, but focusing on the potential of the first half. I definitely thrive on positivity and this post made me happy!
