We are in a much better position than 12 months ago

I'd rather consider us relegation fodder for the prem league than championship strugglers. Also:

1) We've locked down the contracts of our key players. IF we do down, we should get good money for them.
2) Good investment in the u23 players. Again, IF we go down those could look like very prudent buys.
3) Take a look at the wealth of the prem league club owners compared to Delia. Always going to be terribly difficult to compete against that.
4) Finances of the club are much better than 12 months ago, and relegation won't be disaster as it was last time.

Having said all that, nothing would please me more than to see us stay up and surprise everyone.
