Webber admitted that in his interview last season though. Said that last season was

probably an anomaly actually being able to bring in 4 young players to the first team (3 in reality as Lewis had been involved regularly the season before).

Was huge really. Even the previous season while we didn't do as well, the effect Lewis had in shoring up the left side of defence was massive. Then we had the same if not bigger effect last season when Lewis came in. Godfrey's emergence wasn't as much a life saver but DID add to the team massively in a bit more pace, more ability to come out of defence, and the versatility to play defensive midfield or left back if required. Cantwell was obviously not as impactful (although did have a really good impact in his early games) but was still a decent sub.

Webber said that some years you'll only get one, and some years you might get none. Assuming that's all taken into the risk management.
