They were being thick but at the same time there is something in what they say

The meek acceptance of possible relegation, or "just happy to be there" or as we used to refer to it the "little Norwich" syndrome does still exist amongst a fairly large section of our fanbase and indeed I think at board level.

I think we are all realistic, we all know we have limitations financially and that we cannot spend hundreds of millions but I will still be gutted if we get relegated and I do think we should be pushing the boat out as much as possible to try and add a bit more defensive steel. I don't subscribe to the "if we go down we will be in a better position to come back up" theory because we all know how that can go wrong and there is absolutely no guarantee we would get back up, especially after we have sold the crown jewels which would happen.

But yes Lewis and the other guys arguments were a bit contradictory and they seemed to miss the main points which are iI) we can't spend hundreds of millions and (ii) many of our players are arguably more suited to the prem anyway (we think). he kept mentioning Bournemouth and Brighton as examples of clubs that stayed up whilst keeping faith with the bulk of their promotion winning side which weirdly he used as an example of clubs who had more ambition than us.
