I think individually the quality of the defenders is good enough to be honest

The area we should be spending on is a defensive midfielder to protect them better.

That would make us less susceptible to counter attacks. The other defensive issues can be solved by coaching if Farke is alive to them as in my view they flow from how far we push our full backs on and terrible tactics/ marking at set pieces. We do not need new players to improve these areas.
