See I don’t know if a better trybull is clearly needed. Some of it is indeed a trade off

in terms of system which gave us that beautiful football last season. Maybe we will be a little more pragmatic this year (hopefully not a la Brighton).

I keep reading that we need an athletic DM. I must have a different understanding of the word athletic than some. For me trybull has decent pace for a DM, he has good balance, quick feet (when brain plays along), and doesn’t have stiff hips - he can open up his hips for a pass. For me that’s the athletic part. I think his passing is also fine when the decision is correct. If there’s any criticism of him from me it’s the occasional bad decision but he was far better at decision making last season than the season before so hope that continues to develop.

Ok, he’s not got sprinter pace and doesn’t regularly ping 70 yard Pirlo cross field pinpoint passes, but I do wonder why we keep talking about a need to upgrade there above the position which lost possession so often in the final third which was very dangerous given that with our system it can leave our fullbacks out of the game.

I agree we need another DM as tettey, as much as I love him, really is on his last legs.
