As loz says the amazon Fire ones are fine

Only difference the 'kids' version has is the removable cover, and they get a subscription to some electronic tat for a year.

Possibly cheaper to buy the normal Fire and pick up a cover separately if you think your kids are an age that its useful/not too uncool.

If you dont need the covers there are probably bigger versions. I think we have the 8 and wish it was a bit bigger.

(I like the covers as i can fling it around, but I'm old enough to not care about being seen with a bright pink cover!)
