Relaxed

Now that the season is over for us in everything but name I am feeling pretty relaxed about the outcome of the remaining matches.

Added to this, is Delia and Micheal's statement effectively saying that Worthy will still be our manager at the end of the season and probably at the beginning of next. This will disappoint many (and I include myself in that number) but maybe we should give him another crack at getting us up next season.

I would be ok with this as long as some indication was given by the Board that they wouldn't accept a repeat of the mediocrity we have seen this season. Nothing less than a top six slot by November will be acceptable. Anything less and Worthy can show himself out.

I have seen some of the comments further down the Board about the lack of players coming through from the Academy system, especially when compared with Ipswich. This is true but you have to remember that they have played the youngsters out of necessity. They are also further down the line with their system having established it a few years before us.

A crucial extra factor is their location. The Academy rules are quite stringent about the geograhical area clubs can source their trainees from. Ipswich are closer to London and have a much better catchment area than us. That is why I have long advocated pulling out of the scheme. Under the Academy rules we would never have signed the likes of Eadie (West Country) and Bellamy (Wales).
