I don't think

that what he does is very difficult (it takes some skill, but not skill so rare that it justifies this amount)
I also don't think that people are any more likely to watch eg MotD because it's presented by Lineker rather than some other reasonably competent presenter, and I don't think people are likely to enjoy it appreciably more.
so i still think he's wildly overpaid. By about £1.5m/a if I had to say
