Drinking at, before or after football is a social activity which can have an associative link... can't go to footy without a beer, maybe.

Gambling is an internalised need which is satiated by a one-2-one relationship with the bookmaker. Gambling has also become integral to every aspect of the game, giving the appearance that they are really the same thing.

But that's my opinion, not preaching, just providing added detail as to why I feel that way.
