'When the risible Mike Batt (Katie Melua, Wombles, "Bond", "The Planets") had his "Time- The Musical" on in London, Freddie Mercury turned up backstage with a couple of chums who were matey with the producers.

They got absolutely pissed on champagne and decided to go out into the stalls and be ice-cream sellers. Freddie dressed for the part and flounced around handing out pots of ice cream.

Some delicate old dear from the north said "Ooooh, what am I to do with this?"

Freddie said "You can stick it up your c**t for all I care deary!" grinned and flounced off to the next victim.'
