I think one difference I see is

, for a home season ticket, if you don't have one, you have the option to go on a waiting list for a ticket that guarantees a seat at every game - granted that list itself is limited but you had the option. There is always a fair amount of turnover for HSTs as people move up an age bracket and can't afford the new cost, move away, change their mind, die, etc. so the waiting list was always a decent way to get back into the loop from season to season. I have never failed to get a HST when I've wanted one (I have moved abroad and back multiple times and always gotten one from Day 1 of the season after I move back and twice have managed to get one at the mid-season stage)

I have had an AST in the past and it worked well - we were allowed to forfeit 3 games without losing the AST but essentially committed to all the others. Would happily have signed up for a similar deal; we asked from early on this year but they said we would have to wait to understand the options in close season and then there was no longer such an option. I acknowledge that many others may have been after a similar deal and I agree with the sentiment that, t all intents and purposes, ASTs from last season have an option to renew theirs. I actually see the new deal as an even more flexible option for them as they don't really need to take up any of the tickets, so no longer limited to just three forfeits; they just have first dibs on every game...nice.

I'm hoping there is still a decent opportunity to get tickets in the priority window but I just know there will be one or two sales windows that will be really badly timed and inevitably we will miss some of the games we really want to get to.
