Not quite sure where the line should be drawn though on minor matters such as the one last night - coming off her line wasn’t why the penalty was saved. Using VAR as a scientific answer to subjective issues that the ref / refs assistant should be getting a good view of doesn’t feel like the right approach to me.
Offside is pretty much binary so no need to factor in an element of judgement. I guess the same could be said of last nights decision too; did she come off her line, yes or no? Yes, it’s a retake. Thinking about it as I type, I suppose that is right even though it’s not a very satisfactory answer given the officials were right there looking at it.
I think the rule of football that penalised the keeper last night was probably the real issue though, as you say.
