The traditional model of huge individual salaries hurts the smaller lower end PL/Champs clubs.
(The top clubs pay everyone well so it doesn't hurt them as much)
Often clubs will bring in vastly overpaid players on crazy wages while the players who got the club to that position are left on much smaller wages.
If relegation happens the better players leave and you are left with a lot of resentful overpaid (normally older) players.
You can see why its so hard for relegated clubs to get out of the champs. Even with para payments they are running up huge debts just to cycle out of huge contracts.
It would be cool if clubs paid players a reasonable champs wage but with massive bonus incentives.
Example. Each squad player would get a fixed bonus based on PL position. Then added performance bonuses for minutes played and also bonuses for being an unused sub. I know this is unrealistic but does play into some of what we have done this season.
It would stop the crash and burn of clubs.
