In the long run nothing changes, other than people's views become more entrenched and we still have homophobia. This is a public forum many more people lurk than participate, so if just one person's view is changed because of Ralf's eloquent dissection of why homophobia is abhorrent then that's a step in the right direction. I just feel abuse and name calling dilutes any argument. Online communication has made it so much easier to abuse and dismiss people's opinions for various reasons, that sometimes we need to stop and think about how best to communicate on a specific topic and the intended audience.
