I think this is how it happens: it will become a kind of “Oh well, we’ve all been there, it’s London society etc” story, he’ll own it and there will be no apparent hypocrisy.
It’s a little similar to this message board over the last few days. Highlander had an opinion, abhorrent to some / many, which he voiced. Because of the nature of the opinion, reaction was strong and loud. However - I think this is what’s important and reflected in politics today - there seemed to be more concern about the nature of the reaction and whether we were entitled to it (we were, by the way) than debating the original questionable opinion. The result being that many of those on the same side start beating each other up about free speech etc rather than pointing out the flaws in the opinion. Not to say all were doing that, just that it dilutes the opposition and that’s exactly what happens in politics. Highlander’s opinion hasn’t changed and won’t - too many others are concerned about the use of the word c**t.
And that’s what’ll happen, in a way, with this story.
Anyway, I’m busy now. It’s my theory / opinion, disagree or not, I’ll cope.
