An issue with VAR is that it gives people a false impression of certainty

Last night's was so close that there is no way you could be sure it was offside, because you cannot be sure that:
a) the electronic line was accurately 'drawn' on the screen
b) the frame was paused at the exact moment the pass was made
The margin of the offside yesterday was so small that it was easily within the margins of error for those things and should not have been overruled. The fact that it took so long was a clear indication (as usual) that it wasn't a clear error.
Yet some people see that frame and that line and pronounce it 'clearly' offside, which shows they don't really understand what they are seeing, which is actually two estimates (for the line and the instant of the pass).
