Sadly no practice parachute jumps because the wind was too strong (I thought; very accurate, D-Day was delayed by 24 hours because of bad weather) especially for the old round style chutes they were using. A very moving day, I think 15 of the DC3/C47s had come over from the U.S and Canada and the others from GB and Europe, including a rare Russian Li2 licensed version. Great to see these planes, love watching military planes, hate to think what they did and can do, but although the Dak is such a lovable old barge. And I don't think anyone can question the need of D-Day. BTW the one marked up in PanAm colours is for sale, $995k. Really feels poignant this remembrance, the Americans came to help us fight the fascists, we've just got to remember that the fascists can come from any direction.
There is no glory in war.
