I think we'd really struggle.

Maybe not the fighting bit, I'm sure there are many people out there who if they felt the cause was just, would fight just as bravely. But I think we'd struggle with the other sacrifices and compromises that that generation had to put up with - rationing, being told by officials what to do all the time (put the light out, take in evacuees, go to this shelter, only have two inches of bath water...) We'd hate all that!

Let's really hope we never have to test ourselves.
