I met an ITKer in the pub the other day...

Was in the middle of completing the Heigham Trail in one day on a Bank Holiday Monday City of Ale crawl and had settled in (the horribly smelly) Garden House for the 2nd half of the Champ PO Final (we'd watched the 1st in the non-trail Nelson).

Clare had got us to shuffle our stools over to accomodate the ITKer so that he had an unobscured view of our screen. He wasted no time in tipping us his hush-hush, name-no-names juicy-juice of how we must support Villa as otherwise it'd cost us a key player - can't name who though. Apparently if Villa had failed then Grealish was off to Spurs(!) and that vacuum would be filled by one of our disgruntled benchers. I thought about who he was referring to for a bit, before offering Leitner, but he couldn't possibly comment further as he'd be betraying the trust of his source, that being the parents of Mr Not-Enough-Minutes.

We then wasted no further time in quashing his shush-shush, named-name nonsey-nonsense, particularly with that a huge factor of this season's success was the squad's trust earned by excellent man management, with first team spells guaranteed when chances were taken and standards met and maintained. Oddly he then enthusiastically agreed with this, effectively debunking his own angle. Besides which, Spurs have better than Grealish already and I don't think the playing styles match. That and how ITK would the parents even be and did all that come about purely as his agent got in their ear hoping they'd more influentially get in the players ear to engineer a move, without any substance to the agents words. Oh, not forgetting why on earth would you give up a Premier League team for another season's slog in the second tier with no guarantee of success at the end of it?!

Nice enough fellow though and we bumped into him again as we passed him mid-gardening near one of our later pubs. He wasn't at least bulls**tting in the pub about the fact he'd been digging it up, so credit where credit is due.

Does help remind me why I tend to stay clear of this place and other fan social media sites during the summer.

Wonder what nuggets another Pub-Know-It-All will come up with tonight for the EL Final...
