He *gosh* has meetings and *swoon* emails minutes AND ACTION POINTS right away (like 90% of people in any business with more than a few people in it).

He *wow* uses video conferencing! To speak to people ABROAD! Goodness, I didn't even know there WAS such a place as abroad!

I think my favourite para though, just for the bumptiousness (bumption?) and lack of self-awareness, is "When it came to my turn to talk, he took it all in - every scrap of info and every nuance that my words offered. "

Maybe that's the answer, actually - maybe Evans based his whole strategy on this guy's views, which would explain the outcomes he's...well, "achieved" might be putting it strongly...
